The Technology

What a nanobubble does that a bubble can't.

A nanobubble is smaller than 200 nm — a fraction of the width of a coarse aeration bubble. At that scale the physics change: it stops rising, stays suspended for days, and moves oxygen into water with unusual efficiency.

Four properties that matter

Small enough to behave like a solute.

<200nm

Sub-micron size

Orders of magnitude smaller than coarse bubbles, so buoyant force is negligible and the bubble stays in the water body.

Days

Long persistence

Instead of surfacing in seconds, nanobubbles remain suspended for days to weeks, working the full water column.

−ζ

Negative charge

A negative zeta-potential destabilises suspended algae and fine solids and keeps bubbles dispersed rather than coalescing.

↑O₂

High mass transfer

Enormous combined surface area drives oxygen into solution efficiently — to supersaturation, well above what blowers achieve.

What that does to water

One input — oxygen — four treatment effects.

EFFECT 01

Dissolved-oxygen supersaturation

The water column is lifted from anaerobic to fully aerobic. Aerobic bacteria — nitrifiers especially — get the oxygen they need to break down organics and oxidise ammonia at speed.

EFFECT 02

Raised redox / ORP

Higher oxidation potential accelerates the breakdown of contaminants and supports disinfection, driving down pathogen counts alongside the biology.

EFFECT 03

Algae destabilisation

Negatively charged nanobubbles and high DO disrupt the conditions blue-green algae depend on, clearing the blooms that plague eutrophic ponds and dams.

EFFECT 04

Odour control

An oxygen-rich, oxidising environment suppresses the anaerobic reactions that generate hydrogen-sulphide odour around sewage ponds and works.

Nanobubble vs conventional aeration

Why we don't use blowers and coarse diffusers.

NBT nanobubble Coarse-bubble aeration
Bubble size < 200 nm 2–5 mm
Buoyancy Near-neutral — stays suspended Rises and bursts in seconds
Oxygen transfer Very high — reaches supersaturation Low — much gas lost to surface
Redox / ORP Raised — oxidising, disinfecting Little effect
Algae & odour Suppresses BGA, oxidises H₂S Limited
Energy & power Low — solar-viable High — grid blowers
Footprint Retrofit into existing ponds Tanks / mechanical plant
Delivery

Floated on the water, powered by the sun.

NBT generators are deployed on floating platforms with their own photovoltaic array and suspended battery pack — an arrangement we call NanoHaven. There's no grid connection and no exposure to load-shedding: the diffuser sits below the platform and injects nanobubbles directly into the water it treats. The same platform can carry vegetated islands, which is exactly what the NBT + Vetipont™ combination does.
